LERIBE CRAFT CENTER
Vocational School & Workshop

The Leribe Craft Center is one of the oldest weaving establishments in Lesotho and is located in the town of Hlotse (Leribe).  Village women spin rare local Lesotho mountain mohair in their homes and bring the yarn to the Center regularly where the yarn is washed, mothproofed, dyed as required and further processed --- woven, knitted or crocheted into products.
Most of the women are disabled, cripple or deaf.  The project is philanthropic, and profits are used for their education and support. The Centre also purchases and markets handicrafts from independant local craftspeople.

SOLID is offering the beautiful mohair shawls crafted by the Leribe co-op for sale at our events, and by appointment until Christmas by calling 537-9925.

We have black, white, yellow/gold, purple, pumpkin orange, indigo, and pale blue solid scarves, and green/black, blue/purple, autumn yellows, gold and blue stripes, and natural flecked scarves.

You can also purchase directly from the coop online at http://www.leo.co.ls/lesothopcv/LLC.htm. We hope to work with the centre to build and share skills in computer design, website creation and management, and developing relationships with buyers locally and abroad.
