SOLID presents

“An intimate evening with Randy Bachman”

One of rock music’s most enduring superstars performs a special concert revealing the inspirations behind his many incarnations over the last 40 years in the music world and a sneak preview of those to come.

Prior to a special Randy Bachman performance at Massey Hall in Toronto on April 13, 2007, Salt Spring Island will have a rare chance to catch the locally based Canadian icon in an intimate local venue. Bachman will be performing on April 6 at Artspring at a special benefit concert for a local organization with a global cause – Salt Spring Organization for Life Improvement and Development (SOLID).

“I’m just very pleased to be partnering with SOLID for this event and helping along the growing global awareness movement on our island”, said Bachman. “It’s an opportunity to help facilitate the Salt Spring community participate in solutions for parts of the planet in serious need.”

Aside from the chance to contribute towards Salt Spring Island’s efforts in Africa, the event represents a singular opportunity to experience Randy Bachman’s multi-faceted musicianship with all the recent flavors.

Randy Bachman has had a legendary musical career remarkable both for the heights of success he has achieved and for the variety of incarnations he has assumed. As a founding member of the pop super groups the Guess Who and then Bachman-Turner Overdrive he delivered a string of international pop music hit - songs like American Woman, These Eyes, Takin’ Care of Business, No Sugar Tonight. He has been a gold and platinum record producer, songwriter and performer, with a slew of awards and accolades in tribute to his achievements. But as Randy has been known to say ... you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.

As he has always done, Bachman continues to re-invent himself, most recently touring and performing throughout North America with long time creative partner Burton Cummings under Bachman Cummings. He has become a beloved international radio program host and a humble jazz musician, all the while manning two of his own record labels and mentoring and producing young musicians.

In this special performance at Artspring, Randy takes the stage to share his life’s legacy - his music, his inspirations, his passions and his roots.

The show moves from a solo acoustic guitar instrumental performance to a full band line up with special guests Denise McCann and Christ Gestrin. Randy will share his early jazz influences inspired by his mentor and teacher guitar prodigy Lenny Breau. As well, he will perform selected numbers from his upcoming CD release – a meeting of guitar greats Jay Geils, Gerry Beaudoin and Duke Robillard together with Randy Bachman (“Randy Bachman with New Guitar Summit.”)

And ever the raconteur Randy will interweave between the hits we all know and love to the stories behind the music, giving us a taste of what we hear so often on his celebrated national radio show.

Through this very special evening, the essence of Randy Bachman is revealed - global citizen, community leader, the eternal music student, the passionate music fan, music historian, and our very own music legend.

Tickets are available at Artspring box office for $75. A charitable tax receipt is available for a portion of the ticket price.
